Buy an eSIM With USDT: ERC-20 or TRC-20 Stablecoin Payment
USDT prices the plan the way the order page already shows it — in dollars. Send the right network, ERC-20 or TRC-20, and the top-up lands without the swings a floating coin adds between checkout and confirmation.
What USDT is, and which version this is
USDT, also called Tether, is a stablecoin: a token designed to track the US dollar one to one, rather than float the way Bitcoin or Ethereum do. NoKyc e-Sim accepts it on two separate networks, which are not interchangeable with each other despite carrying the same token name.
- USDT (ERC-20) runs on the Ethereum network, using Ethereum’s own gas fees and confirmation times.
- USDT (TRC-20) runs on the TRON network, a separate blockchain with its own, usually cheaper, fee market.
- Both settle to the same USD balance once confirmed; the network only affects how the payment travels, not what it buys.
This is one of 8 accepted coins; how to buy an eSIM with crypto covers the general flow every coin, including USDT, follows.
ERC-20 vs. TRC-20: fees and speed
The token is identical in value; the network underneath it is not. Picking the wrong one does not change what USDT is worth, but it changes what sending it costs and how long it takes.
| USDT (ERC-20) | USDT (TRC-20) | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum | TRON |
| Typical fee | Rides Ethereum gas prices; can spike when the network is busy | Usually a small fraction of a cent |
| Typical speed | A couple of minutes once gas clears | Near-instant |
| Best suited to | Wallets and exchanges that only offer ERC-20 | Most transfers, when TRC-20 is available |
When a wallet or exchange offers a choice, TRC-20 is almost always the cheaper and faster way to send USDT for a top-up this size.
The wrong-chain mistake
USDT on ERC-20 and USDT on TRC-20 use different address formats behind the scenes, but many wallets display them in ways that look similar at a glance. Sending TRC-20 USDT to an address generated for ERC-20, or the reverse, is the single costliest mistake on this page, and it is rarely reversible.
Do
- Match the network selector on the order page to the network selected in your wallet before sending
- Copy and paste the deposit address rather than retyping it
- Send a small test amount first if the wallet or exchange is unfamiliar
- Open a ticket immediately, with the transaction hash, if a mismatch is suspected
Don’t
- Assume USDT means the same address works on every network
- Switch networks mid-transaction to save on a fee without checking the deposit address again
- Retype a long address by hand, where a single mistyped character sends funds nowhere recoverable
- Wait to raise a mismatch — the sooner support hears about it, the more likely something can be done
A payment sent on the wrong network is not something the order page can detect on its own. If the balance does not appear after enough time has passed for confirmation, a ticket with the transaction hash is the next step, not a repeat payment.
Why a dollar-pegged coin removes the volatility problem
Every pack on NoKyc e-Sim is priced in USD. Paying with Bitcoin, Ethereum, or another floating coin means that price gets converted at the moment the deposit address is generated, and the coin’s own market can drift before the payment confirms. USDT does not have that problem, because the token itself is designed to stay near one dollar.
- The amount requested barely moves between opening the top-up page and sending the payment, since there is no exchange-rate clock running against a floating asset.
- Topping up ahead of a trip is simpler, since a balance funded in USDT holds its dollar value while it waits to be spent.
- Budgeting a multi-country trip is easier to plan against a stable number rather than a coin that could be worth a different amount by the time a plan is bought.
Who this suits, and an honest note about exchanges
USDT fits naturally for anyone who already holds stablecoins, which in practice usually means anyone who has bought crypto on a mainstream exchange and kept some of it in dollar-pegged form rather than converting back out.
No need to buy a different coin just for this purchase; spend what is already sitting in the wallet.
TRC-20’s low fees suit topping up in smaller amounts more often, without the fee eating into the balance.
A dollar-pegged balance holds its value between funding it and spending it, weeks apart if needed.
The honest part: withdrawing USDT from an exchange that verified your identity links that withdrawal, and the wallet address it went to, back to you on that exchange’s records and on the public ledger. NoKyc e-Sim still collects nothing on its end, but the coin’s earlier history does not disappear because of where it was spent last. Anyone for whom that link matters is better served by paying with Monero, or by letting a wallet season away from the exchange before spending from it.
Paying with USDT, step by step
- 01Open the top-up page
Choose USDT, then choose the network: ERC-20 or TRC-20. $25 minimum top-up.
- 02Match the network in your wallet
Select the identical network before sending; this is the step that matters most.
- 03Send the exact amount
Copy the address rather than retyping it, and send the amount shown.
- 04Wait for the balance to credit
TRC-20 is typically near-instant; ERC-20 depends on Ethereum’s current gas conditions.
- 05Buy a plan from the balance
Pick a country and a pack size; the QR appears immediately, drawn from balance rather than a new chain wait.
The balance spends the same way anywhere in 190 countries, including Vietnam and Indonesia.
Questions, answered
What’s the difference between USDT ERC-20 and TRC-20?
Both are the same dollar-pegged token, issued on two different blockchains. ERC-20 runs on Ethereum, with gas fees that vary and can spike when the network is busy. TRC-20 runs on TRON, usually with near-instant transfers and fees close to nothing. They are not interchangeable addresses, so the network chosen at checkout has to match the network used to send.
What happens if I send USDT on the wrong network?
It is the riskiest mistake on this page and often is not recoverable. If a payment does not show up after enough time has passed for confirmation, open a ticket with the transaction hash right away. Sending a repeat payment on the correct network in the meantime only adds a second problem to untangle.
Does USDT’s price ever change before my payment confirms?
Barely, which is the point of a stablecoin. It is designed to track one US dollar, so the amount requested at checkout should still be accurate by the time a transfer lands, unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, where the market can move during that window. It is not a legal guarantee of the peg, just a very tight design target.
Is paying with USDT private?
No more than Bitcoin is. USDT’s ledger is public on both networks it runs on, and a withdrawal from an identity-verified exchange links that wallet address back to the exchange’s own records. NoKyc e-Sim still collects nothing at checkout, but the coin’s history before it arrives is outside our control. Monero is the option built for that concern specifically.
Can I mix ERC-20 and TRC-20 USDT in the same balance?
Yes. Once a top-up confirms, it becomes part of the same USD balance regardless of which network it arrived on. Future top-ups can use either network, or switch to a different coin altogether, without splitting the balance into separate pools or needing the two top-ups to match in any way.
Why is there a minimum top-up if USDT fees are so low?
The $25 minimum is the same across all 8 coins, including the ones with negligible fees. It exists to keep the payment system efficient rather than to offset any particular coin’s cost, so it applies to a near-free TRC-20 transfer exactly the same way it applies to Bitcoin.
